About Me – Yaocen

 

Hi! I am a music teacher, performer, and lion dancer based in Chappaqua, NY. I grew up in Guangdong, China, where I developed a deep love for both music and traditional Chinese performing arts. I graduated from Xinghai Conservatory of Music, specializing in piano, vocal training, and various musical instruments.

 

As a music educator, I believe that every student has their own unique way of expressing themselves through music. I enjoy working with young children and focus on nurturing their love for music through interactive activities like games, singing, and exploring the sounds in the world around us. My goal is to create a fun and engaging learning environment where students can develop both skill and confidence.

 

In addition to teaching music, I am also passionate about traditional Chinese lion dance. I didn’t want lion dance to remain just a childhood memory—I wanted to bring this beautiful art form to more people, even in the U.S. Through performances and training, I hope to share the energy, history, and cultural significance of lion dance and keep this tradition alive.
