Miumoo Lion Dance Team

My name is Yaocen, and I grew up in Guangdong, China, where lion dance was a cherished part of my childhood. I never wanted lion dance to remain just a distant memory—I wanted to carry it forward, even in a place far from home.

Now in the United States, I am passionate about sharing this traditional Chinese art form with a wider audience. Lion dance is not just a performance; it is a deeply rooted cultural heritage, a symbol of strength, unity, and perseverance. I hope to introduce more people to this incredible intangible cultural heritage and keep its spirit alive here in America.

To deepen my knowledge and skills, I became a disciple of Master Wilson Ng (伍龙师父) of the Choy Lay Fut Lion DanceTeam in New York. Under his guidance, I am dedicated to preserving and promoting the rich traditions of lion dance while also adapting it to new settings and communities.

Through each performance, I strive to bring the energy, artistry, and cultural significance of lion dance to life—connecting the past with the present and inspiring future generations to carry on this legacy.

Our Name & Philosophy

“Miumoo” (眇末 Miaomo) comes from classical Chinese Cantonese meaning “small and subtle.” We chose this name to remind ourselves that even the tiniest details can create extraordinary artistry.

Lion dance is a powerful yet intricate traditional art, requiring precision, flexibility, and deep teamwork. We believe that attention to detail leads to greatness, and even the smallest efforts can build something magnificent.
